BACKGROUND
The iw@re application suite was developed by a highly qualified and motivated team of professionals in their quest to find practical solutions to actual client legacy problems.

A significant number of integrated business solutions have been developed over many years culminating into the iw@re application suite.During this period we found increased evidence that the B2C (business to client) and B2B (business to business) initiatives were often very lengthy and complicated to implement and therefore often inversely proportionate to the benefits that our clients were in pursuit of from e-commerce. It was just not delivering real bottom line value to our clients.

However, what did become very apparent were the enormous benefits that could be derived and leveraged by corporations within their own business environments. A domain over which they have significant influence.

This new e-arena has been coined as B2E (Business to Employee) and the technology that facilitates such phenomenon we call i-commerce (intranet commerce). We see i-commerce as the future opportunity for our clients as it is here that practical and tangible business benefits and cost reductions can be leveraged. It will also allow business to add "muscle" to their intranets and to "sweat" their existing investment in technology infrastructure.

In the B2E field, management has significant influence over the utilization of these i-commerce solutions deployed whereas with B2B the diversity of suppliers systems, complexity of interface integration, limitation on bandwidth, the resistance to exposing their systems to unsecured access from outside the organization are all limiting factors to successful business integration.

From a B2C perspective, although much benefit has been achieved for some "click and brick" retailers the degree of success of B2C will always depend on the type of product that the company wishes to retail and their companies client profiles.

Often companies in developing countries will find that they have insufficient clients within their target markets that have access to the Internet. From a practical delivery point of view they often don't have the necessary goods delivery infrastructure. Other issues often encountered are the lack of bandwidth and the mistrust by the clients regarding Internet payment security.

It is for these reasons that 3eGlobal has decided to concentrate our e-commerce efforts on B2E on the intranet and its integration into clients legacy systems wherever practical.
